One of your assignments for this week is to analyze and interpret the elements/principles of one media artwork of your choice using "Unique Advertisements" PowerPoint file provided to you by your teacher. See Elements and Principles of Media Arts for guidance.
Here's my example of the assignment:
- Light: This artwork includes a mixture of lights.
- Natural (outdoor skylight, reflection of clouds)
- Photography (choice of light features in the camera)
- Photo editing program (manipulation through a program like Photoshop)
- Sound:
- No sound production in the artwork
- Personal interpretation of sound can be produced by just looking at the picture - stunned by the impact of the ball to the head or roaring of the fans' cheers from below (assumption from experience).
- Time: It is a still image, thus no time process of this artwork is seen. However, interpretation of time of this image is seen. This artwork reveals two periods of time
- The statue represents the history of Greek (also Athens when first olympics was debutted)
- Fads over soccer is now more modern
- ESPN logo represents today's channel.
- Point of View:
- The point of view is slightly low. The angle of the subject we see is slightly above us, as if we're standing looking up to the statue.
- Performance:
- Creation of this artwork is not visibly performed in this product. It is a still product
- Framing:
- The subject (the statue head) at the left side is more closed up than in the middle field and there is space that takes more then 1/2 side at the right side.
- Narrative:
- No story telling has been used in this artwork.
- Editing:
- Yes, there had been some editings done in this artwork. The impact of the dirty soccer ball on the statue's face, the lightings and the printed logo as well.
For better understanding of the terms, definitions/examples of each element will be posted as soon as possible.
Please see your teacher for assistance or clarification of the assignment.
Good luck and enjoy! :)
